Computer Classification By Generation.

Today, we are going to talk about the generation of computers and their characteristics. In computer generation, five generations can be separated. In this article, we will talk about the characteristics of these generations and the technologies used.

These generations can be separated as follows.

  1. First Generation(Vacuum Tubes)
  2. Second Generation(Transistors)
  3. Third Generation(Integrated Circuits)
  4. Fourth Generation(Micro Processors)
  5. Fifth Generation(Artificial Intelligence)
Now let's talk about the generations.
  1. First Generation(Vacuum Tubes)
    • Vacuum tubes were used.
    • Manufacturing costs are high.
    • More Electric power was needed.
    • Based on mechanical language.
    • Input and output occurred using the punch card.
    • Magnetic media was used as the storage medium.
  2. Second Generation(Transistors)
    • Transistors were used
    • Smaller in size.
    • Assembly language was used.
    • Magnetic media was used as the storage medium.
    • The amount of electricity consumed was reduced.
  3. Third Generation(Integrated Circuits)
    • IC was used.
    • Maintenance costs are low.
    • Computer operating systems were used.
    • Pascal language was used.
    • Keyboards and monitors were used for input and output.
  4. Forth Generation(Micro Processors)
    • Micro processors were used.
    • The cost of production was further reduced.
    • Computers began to be used for domestic purposes.
    • Supercomputers began to emerge.
  5. Fifth Generation(Artificial Intelligence)
    • Uses artificial intelligence.
    • Uses nanotechnology.
    • Smaller computers began to emerge.

Scientists today aim to create computers that are like the work of an intelligent man.Today it has been largely successful.
